Who We Serve

Steps and Stairs for Every Property

Whether you need a grand stone entrance for your home or code-compliant commercial stairs for your business, we design and build steps that combine safety with lasting beauty across Southeastern Massachusetts.

Homeowners & Residential Properties

Your front steps are the first thing visitors notice, and crumbling or uneven stairs create both safety hazards and a poor impression. Maybe you've been putting off replacing those aging concrete steps, or you're dreaming of a natural stone entrance that matches your landscape. We build residential steps designed for decades of New England weather.

Commercial & Multi-Family Properties

Non-compliant stairs are a liability waiting to happen, and deteriorating steps send the wrong message to tenants, customers, and visitors. You need a contractor who understands ADA requirements, local building codes, and higher traffic demands. We deliver commercial stairs that meet every specification while maintaining a professional appearance.

Our Process

How Your Step Installation Project Works

Discuss your project, review the proposed scope and plan the next steps with our team.

  1. Free On-Site Consultation and Assessment

We visit your property to assess the site conditions, measure grade changes, evaluate soil and drainage patterns, and discuss your vision for the project. We'll examine existing steps if replacement is needed and identify any factors that affect material selection or construction approach.

During this visit, we discuss material options, show you samples, and provide preliminary budget ranges so you can make informed decisions. The consultation is completely free with no obligation, typically 30 to 45 minutes depending on project scope.

  2. Design and Detailed Proposal

Based on our site assessment, we prepare a detailed proposal outlining the scope of work, materials, construction methods, timeline, and total project cost. You'll see exactly how many steps, what dimensions, which materials, and how the stairway integrates with surrounding hardscape elements.

For complex projects involving significant grade changes or retaining wall integration, we may include cross-section drawings showing the subsurface construction layers. Our proposals are transparent, no hidden fees, no surprise charges, no ambiguous line items.

  3. Material Selection and Procurement

Once you approve the design, we source your chosen materials from trusted regional suppliers. For natural stone, we hand-select individual pieces to ensure consistent color, thickness, and quality.

Material lead times vary from immediate availability for common pavers and precast to two to three weeks for specialty natural stone. We schedule your installation date once materials are confirmed, so there are no delays once our crew arrives on site.

  4. Site Preparation and Base Construction

Proper base preparation is what separates steps that last decades from steps that shift and crack within a few years. We excavate to below frost depth, install compacted processed gravel in measured lifts, and verify level and grade at each stage. Drainage provisions are built into the base layer.

If we're replacing existing steps, demolition and removal are handled by our crew with proper disposal of old materials. We protect adjacent landscaping, walkways, and structures with barriers during excavation and construction.

  5. Step Construction and Installation

With the base prepared, our masons build your stairway one course at a time: setting each tread level, checking riser heights for consistency, and ensuring proper pitch for water drainage. Natural stone treads are dry-fit first, then permanently set with mortar or construction adhesive depending on the application.

Handrails are installed during this phase with posts anchored into the step structure for maximum stability. Most residential stairway projects are completed in two to four days depending on the number of steps, material type, and site complexity.

  6. Final Walkthrough and Warranty Review

Before we leave, we walk you through the completed project step by step. Literally. We verify every tread is level, every riser is consistent, all handrails are secure, and every joint is properly finished. We clean the entire work area and remove all construction debris from your property.

We're available for questions after completion and schedule a follow-up check during the next season to ensure everything is performing as expected.

Let's Build Steps That Transform Your Property

Whether you need to replace aging front entry steps, build a new hillside staircase, or install code-compliant commercial stairs, our team is ready to deliver results that exceed your expectations. Schedule a free on-site consultation and get a detailed proposal with no obligation.

Henrique and his team are fantastic!!! They are very hard working and meticulous with their work. I called him to quote hydro seeding my front and back yard after putting in a pool last year. His pricing is competitive and best around. I could see grass after just 7 days! He built a retaining wall in the back and it completely framed my yard perfectly. He even helped me find an irrigation company that put in a sprinkler system. I cannot recommend Henrique enough, even my neighbors have used him due to his workmanship. He is also a super nice and trustworthy person. I will be calling him for any future projects I need.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions About Steps and Stairs

Get answers to the most common questions about step and stair construction, materials, timelines, and costs for properties throughout Southeastern Massachusetts.

We work with a wide range of premium materials including natural granite, Pennsylvania bluestone, local fieldstone, interlocking concrete pavers, traditional brick, and precast concrete units. Material selection depends on your design preferences, budget, and the architectural style of your property. During your free consultation, we bring samples so you can see and feel the options before committing.

Most residential step projects are completed in two to four days of on-site work, depending on the number of steps, material type, and site complexity. Precast concrete installations can often be finished in a single day. Larger projects involving hillside staircases or retaining wall integration may take five to seven days. We provide a specific timeline in your proposal before work begins.

Step costs vary significantly based on material choice, number of steps, site conditions, and project complexity. Simple precast concrete replacements start at a lower price point, while custom natural stone entry steps with integrated handrails and lighting represent a larger investment. We provide detailed, itemized proposals after our free on-site assessment so you know exactly what to expect with no hidden costs.

Yes. We're familiar with Massachusetts building codes and local permitting requirements for step and stair construction. For projects that require permits, we handle the application process and ensure all work meets or exceeds code requirements for riser heights, tread depths, handrail specifications, and structural integrity. Our work is built to pass inspection the first time.

Absolutely. Matching new steps to existing walkways, patios, and retaining walls is one of the most common requests we handle. We carefully select materials that complement your current hardscape in color, texture, and style. For older installations where exact material matches aren't available, we use complementary materials that blend naturally for a cohesive appearance.

Frost heave is one of the most common causes of step damage in Massachusetts. Our construction methods are specifically engineered to prevent it. We excavate to below frost depth and build compacted gravel bases that drain water away before it can freeze and expand. If you have existing steps damaged by frost heave, we can assess whether repair or replacement is the better solution.

Yes, we frequently replace front entry steps as a standalone project without disturbing the existing walkway. We carefully remove the old steps and construct new ones that tie into your current walkway seamlessly. If the walkway connection point needs minor adjustments, we handle that as part of the project.

Massachusetts building code requires handrails on stairways with four or more risers. Even for shorter stairways, handrails are recommended for safety, especially for households with elderly residents or small children. We install handrails in aluminum, wrought iron, stainless steel, and wood styles that complement your step materials and home architecture.
